Chris Quinn-Waugh joins The Chester Hotel as the team prepares for early 2014 opening

Aberdeen hotel is looking to add between 80 and 100 new staff members:

The Chester Hotel in Aberdeen has appointed Chris Quinn-Waugh as General Manager as the hotel prepares for its much anticipated opening in early 2014.

Chris joins the team from Edinburgh’s Royal Terrace Hotel and has previously held General Manager positions at the Macdonald Inchyra Grange and Houston House hotels. She is currently recruiting a core team of about 80 to 100 new staff members across all departments to complement the existing team.

“It’s a real privilege to be involved with a hotel at such an early stage”, says Chris. “The Chester Hotel will bring something very different to Aberdeen as we’re creating a truly luxurious, yet contemporary experience for our guests.

“Aberdeen is booming with strong demand for hotel accommodation throughout the week as well as on weekends.

However, we are looking to do much more than simply adding more rooms – it’s about offering something a little bit special, a high quality service where our team is more than happy to go the extra mile for our guests.

“Choosing the right team, people with a real enthusiasm for hospitality, is the key to making the hotel successful. We’re hoping to recruit many of our team locally, but are looking further afield as well.”

Aimed at the five star, luxury hotel market, The Chester Hotel is the latest venture of hoteliers Graham and Gillian Wood, who also own Edinburgh’s award-winning The Chester Residence.

Once open, it will feature 59 Classic, Grand and Loft rooms and two suites, combining a feel of contemporary luxury with the original features of its 19th century listed building.

Graham Wood says: “While The Chester Residence has become Edinburgh’s leading luxury apartment series, this is our first larger hotel venture and we aim to create something equally special in Aberdeen.

The hotel’s facilities will include a fine dining restaurant and relaxed lounge bar, both headed up by Executive Chef Kevin Dalgleish, as well as private dining facilities. One of hotel’s private dining rooms also features its own private balcony, overlooking the Granite City.

Conferences, business functions and banquets for up to 300 guests can be accommodated in a stunning, versatile function suite, which is also available for weddings.

Two beauty rooms offering exclusive Thalgo and Vita Liberata treatments and products as well as two nail bars offering the OPI range will help guests relax and enjoy some down time.
