Bake your own bread at Lauder restaurant Firebrick Brasserie

Bread Masterclass takes place during Real Bread Week

Family-run Lauder restaurant Firebrick Brasserie is hosting its first Bread Masterclass during Real Bread Week on Tuesday 9th May from 7pm, the first in a series of culinary events that will take place at the restaurant.

The event will be led by Firebrick Brasserie’s Head Pastry Chef, Amanda Jordan. Guests will learn how to make a range of breads including focaccia, whole-grain, soda and flatbread, and will be offered taster dishes to try with the different breads. Guests will also be able to take their creation home with them. This is the first of a series of culinary events that will take place at the restaurant over the next year. Real Bread Week aims to encourage people to support local bakeries and bake their own bread at home.

Firebrick Brasserie was opened by award-winning duo David Haetzman, Head Chef, and Amanda Jordan, Head Pastry Chef. Amanda has over 20 years’ experience as a pastry chef which includes managing her own team as Head Pastry Chef at Kyloe steak restaurant in Edinburgh’s West End, whilst David, who also has 20 years’ experience, headed up the kitchen team as Group Executive Chef. The relaxed, fine-dining restaurant places an emphasis on using local produce; over 60% of Firebrick Brasserie’s suppliers are located within a 25 mile radius of the restaurant.

Currently ranked as the top restaurant in Lauder on TripAdvisor, Firebrick Brasserie offers relaxed fine-dining in a casual, warm atmosphere, which is something many Lauder residents previously had to travel to Edinburgh for.

Amanda Jordan, Head Pastry Chef, says: “We’re really excited to showcase our expertise to customers at our Bread Masterclass event. This event is perfect for anyone who is interested in learning how to bake bread, or brush up on their skills with our expert tips and tricks.”
