The Greater Grassmarket Business Improvement District (BID) is launching its first Food and Drink Week from Friday 25th November – Saturday 3rd December to showcase the diverse range of food and drink options available in the Grassmarket. There will be a range of dining offers for visitors and events taking place throughout the week for all the family.

Café deals include a free coffee with a roll or cake from Graze, Café Piccolo, Scooby Doo’s and Café Jacques. Visitors can also enjoy offers from local bars including free live music and drink deals at George IV Bar, a ‘dram and scram’ deal from the Wee Pub and haggis meal with dram of the month from The White Hart Inn.
There will also be a range of family-friendly, children and adult events taking place throughout Food and Drink Week including a tequila tasting and Mezcal masterclass at Mariachi, a children’s pizza making class at Mamma’s Pizza, pie and cheese tasting event at Auld Jock’s Pie Shoppe and Mellis Cheese, and a whisky tasting event at The Whisky Shop.
Norrie Stewart, Grassmarket BID Project Manager, says: “The Greater Grassmarket is home to over 70 quality food and drink traders, with cuisines from around-the-world including traditional Scottish, Italian, French, Mexican, Middle Eastern and Japanese. As well as a number of fantastic restaurants and bistros, there are intimate bars, relaxed cafes and specialist stores, making the Greater Grassmarket the perfect destination to enjoy a delicious meal or quick bite to eat, or pick up unique local produce. We’re hoping our Food and Drink Week will put the Greater Grassmarket on the food map and encourage visitors and locals alike to sample the many dining options on offer whilst doing a bit of Christmas shopping at the same time.”
Tony Singh, chef, Tony Singh’s Restaurant in Apex Grassmarket Hotel, says: “The Greater Grassmarket steeped in history and showing off the best of Scotland’s larder, from pizzerias and mussel specialists, to artisan ice cream shops and pubs. It’s fantastic that you can dine where Auld Reekie ‘rough yins’ from days gone by would have had their last dram, before getting their neck stretched! Locals can often overlook this area when considering their dining out venue and this celebratory week aims to change that.”
